3 words saying it all today: ‘Made in America’

Three studies conducted over the past two years reveal why “Made in the U.S.A.” is making a huge comeback.
The studies, conducted by Gallup, Yankelovich and BIGresearch, found that today’s consumers feel buying American isn’t only a sound investment, it’s a patriotic duty.
Among the studies’ most notable findings:
- More than 80% of respondents felt buying American is important right now (Yankelovich)
- Almost 40% claimed they’d even be willing to pay slightly more for an American-made product (Yankelovich)
- Over 40% of prospective car buyers said they would “only” buy American cars (Gallup), and
- Two-thirds of buyers feel the biggest obstacle to buying American is finding reliable companies to do business with, given all the bailouts, buyouts and bankruptcies brought on by the economic downturn (BIGresearch).
These studies should be a major tip-off for companies looking to gain an edge on competitors (and boost sales and loyalty in the process).
Buyers are drawn to red, white and blue companies right now. And the more your marketing collateral, sales communications and online content reflect that message, the better position you’ll be in to win more business from consumers who are eager to help the U.S. economy recover.

WE ALL NEED TO BUY “MADE IN USA” EXCLUSIVELY AND WE ALL NEEEEEEEED TO REALIZE AND BE READY TO
MEET THE HIGH STANDARDS THAT OUR FORE-FATHERS(AND MOTHERS) SET_ TO MAKE A SUPERIOR PRODUCT(WHATEVER WE ARE MAKING) AND MAKE THINGS WITH PRIDE. WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME TOGETHER AS A NATION AND REBUILD CONSUMER CONFIDENCE IN OUR PRODUCTS. IN TURN, MORE AMERICANS WOULD BE WORKING,PAYING TAXES AND TAKING CARE OF THEIR FAMILIES. ITS A NO BRAINER.
GOOD OLD AMERICAN PRIDE IS WHAT WE ALL NEED TO GET INTO. IT COULD BE A WIN-WIN SITUATION.
WHILE WE ARE AT IT, LETS REPEAL THE FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS AND ARM THE BORDERS.

I agree wholeheartedly with Rhonda’s statement. In addition, we need to revisit “Protectionism”. There’s a reason it’s called that–designed to protect THIS country’s economic base. When imported products hit our shores with an inherent price advantage, less alegiant consumers will purchase those products simply because of price/affordability. Tax the imports and apply the collected tax to defer our unemployment payments. In addition, if a domestic manufacturer exports its mfg. to realize greater profits, apply that same tax to bring the product back into this country–only leveling the playing field for other domestic mfr’s not sending jobs outside our borders. Then provide other incentives (tax abatements) for bringing that same manufacturing back here. And the next time our administration decides to give consumer incentives i.e. Cash For Clunkers, apply those incentives to products produced here (even if the manufacturer is foreign based (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, BMW,) as long as it’s produced on this soil)). At the end of C.F.C., the #1 beneficiary of the program was Huyndai (Korean manufactured); the purchase dollars of every Huyndai left this country to support manufacturing in South Korea (whose population, incidentally, still blames the U.S. for the divide of the two countries–in truth they don’t like us, but love our $$$). Astounding that our administration claims such vision yet proceeds with blinders.
