Disney’s found a surefire way to boost sales via Facebook … and now, your sales organization can do the same.
Disney has partnered with Facebook to create an innovative app that’ll allow Facebook fans to purchase advanced tickets for “Toy Story 3″ without ever leaving Facebook.
The app benefits Facebook because it’s just one more way the social media giant can maintain a captive audience by making the site a one-stop shop for, well, just about everything (It should be noted that Facebook gets no percentage of the sales, but Fandango, which Disney also partnered with, will receive a percentage for facilitating the service).
Meanwhile, Disney benefits because:
- It can promote the film with top prospects via Facebook (Disney’s Facebook page now has upwards of one million fans).
- Every time a ticket is purchased via Facebook, an update will appear on that person’s Facebook page, providing instant viral potential for the film.
- Every time a ticket is purchased via the site, Facebook users will be encouraged to send an instant Facebook message to their friends, encouraging them to buy tickets as well.
- If the model is a success, Disney may have potentially unlocked an all new revenue stream. More importantly, it may have finally unlocked the means for other companies to start selling their products and services directly through Facebook.
Note: The current app is called “Disney Tickets Together,” but chances are Facebook will introduce its own app that allows companies to use the same strategy in the coming months.
