Exec’s slip-up on Twitter gets his company trashed

Top execs can generate a lot of business using Web 2.0 technologies like Twitter and Facebook. But with the world watching, one slip-up can lead a company’s reputation to slaughter. This VP definitely could’ve thought a bit harder about the consequences of using Twitter.

James Andrews, VP of Ketchum Interactive tweeted:

True confession but I’m in one of those towns where I scratch my head and say, “I would die if I had to live here.”

On the surface the comment seems harmless, but at the time Andrews was in Memphis to meet with execs for Ketchum’s top client — FedEx.

An employee at FedEx saw the post and immediately publicized it all over the Web.

Result: Andrews and his company were trashed repeatedly on Twitter and various blogs for insensitivity.
