Looking for the best deal on a credit card or cellphone service for yourself or your company? This Web site is a pretty good place to start.
Here’s how billshrink.com works.
The site offers two options for savings — credit cards and cellphone service. (A third option, gas prices, was in beta the last time we checked the site.)
If for instance, you choose the cellphone option, make sure you have your last few bills, because you’re going to be asked a series of questions that require a history of your spending and usage, such as:
- How much do you spend a month now on cell service?
- How many anytime minutes do you use?
- How many lines do you have?
- Do you use text messaging?
- Do you use Web or e-mail on your phone?
After you reply to the questions, the site lists providers that should give you the best bang for your cellphone buck, based on the usage you described.
The credit-card option has a similar setup. For instance, you’ll be asked, among other questions, whether you pay off your balance every month or carry a month-to-month balance. You get the idea.
One small catch is that to get the site’s money-saving recommendations, you’re going to have to provide your e-mail address — a common request of Web sites, including the one you’re in right now.
