I hope the Dems lose the house in November. I don't hate them or anything i just think that government works best when both parties have some power. In my lifetime I think the Government was working best during Reagans and Clintons presidencies and were at its worst during Obamas and Bush II's.When one party controls everything it seems like its most corrupt and usually the other party sells its soul to the Devil to get back in power.

That would be good advice Karen.... except for history. In 1976 we were reeling form the first oil shortage and we imported 30% of the oil we consumed. At that time "doing nothing also wasn't an option". So we established the Department of Energy with the stated purpose reducing our dependence on foreign energy. Today the DOE is a 24 Billion dollar expense, employs over 100,000 salaried (and soon pensioned) government employees and we import 70% of the oil we consume.

Doing nothing would have been the intelligent choice. The nine most feared words in the English language (as Ronald Regan was quoted) "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

This administration is here to help; their cause, their friends, other countries, the able-bodied non-working poor, socialists worldwide and a whole host of others at the expense of the American public and on the back of American businesses. The less they do the better our chances of an eventual recovery.

Whoa- we still are in a "I'm right and anything to the contrary is wrong" stage. I have been in benefits for 30 years and I know one thing. SOMETHING must be done to reform the system. The answer is not political but financial. Both sides have points but doing NOTHING is insane

WOW. Why in this world with the internet news programs and literature that is available could anyone believe (if they look into it) that the Government is the answer. Redistribution is not the answer and that is all this gov't is offering. As a member of manufacturing management team, we know that any legislation that is intended to lower our costs NEVER does. Name one.....anybody...anybody.

Regulation equals job loss, let history be our guide. No gov't agency ever goes away and no gov't agency ever stops bringing out more regulations that NONE of the rest of the industrialized world has to compete with. EPA, OSHA, EOE and on and on.

Socialized medicine will lead to job destruction, not loss but destruction, leading to higher taxes for those that are fortunate to still have them and for the companies that stay in business, which will pass the increases on to the consumers that will not be able to continue to pay increases. This will lead to more job loss which will magnify the problems more and more.

Dribble, tripe and plain nonsense comes to mind. Tuesday thank God may have brought some sanity or the hope for sanity going forward.

Can you imagine a USA with socialized medicine, Cap and Trade and the Employee Free Trade act?

Now you can write and article which tells me how these will help manufacturers like me. Pass these measures and our company will be closed, after 91 years in business our 150 families will get to enjoy the benefits of unemployment and all the ever loving gov't has to offer, aid to dependent children, food stamps and housing. Who will ever need a job?

Now all I need is the RIGHT to a car a boat and snowmobile and I will be set for life.

Maybe we can mandate that 6 weeks vacation paid for all employees and you can write how this will lead to an increase in productivity in the USA's GDP. I am sure that there is some University that can help you with a study so you can have a reference to list for your article.

Does it not occur to the author that this only takes money out of one industry and passes it to other industries? Any increase in jobs in one industry would be offset by a loss of jobs in the other. This is the classic liberal idea of redistribution of wealth...under government control (which makes it socialism).

Nice, I've never opened up a link to your spam mail until today, and now that I did, I am sorry I did. What a load of biased nonsense. I am a business owner and have a hard time dealing with insurance, and to say the MANDATED insurance and fees coming our way will MAKE Jobs, you're really stupid, and on this site I want to impregnate one thing in everybody's mind...maybe it's time for ANOTHER "change", change of president, change of mind, change of heart...perhaps impeach somebody...hmmm. I'm getting sick and tired of government trying to meddle and save the world, it's the people that make the difference, but government is trying to kill us LITERALLY through abortion and euthanasia funded by this obamacare that's not transparent, and not taking our voice into any account what so ever. I'm tired of it, and I'm already tired of your horrible newsletter
UNSubscribing NOW thanks...for nothing

Mr. Giuliano... "both points of view"? Publishing only the truth should be your standard. How hard is it for you to review a story and figure out what is true verses what is false or speculative or political? So what you are saying is anyone with a point of view, regardless of whether or not is is factual, can have their crap published on your site -- in a HEADLINE. If that's the case we are all expecting to see "Global Warming Caused the Earthquake in Haiti" in your next top headline with a photo of Danny Glover crying and flipping America off. No charge for the lead on that headline. What a joke. Own what you decide to publish -- don't make excuses.

Obviously, the authors of this e-mail newsletter didn't read the MSDS label on the "Kool-Aid" they drank hours before writing this left-wing dribble. The so called information they recite comes from two public entities that know nothing about the private sector and even less beyond textbook economics. What they do know is how to promulgate even more liberal nonsense on the citizenry of this country who are desperate for any kind of "good" news.
This is the kind of of irresponsible communication that has the entire country in trouble. It's always based on the philosophy that government is the answer when it isn't.
What does this forum represent? Government, or the small businesses? I would recommend you get all your "ducks in a row" and get this question answered NOW!

Just to set the record straight: BusinessBrief.com does not support any point of view; we merely present points of view, providing the full sources of the information so that readers can determine what's appropriate for their needs.

The subject story presents a side of the issue that exists, rightly or wrongly, and that readers may want to know about. Our position on this is that presenting just one side is an approach that doesn't serve our readers well, and that's why we try to have a variety of views, without inserting our own views into the mix.

To be sure, the editors at BusinessBrief.com aren't tone deaf to the idea that many business owners oppose the current health reform bill or to the fact that many owners would take serious issue with the findings in the USC/CAP study. Still, we felt that readers would want to know what "the other side" is saying.

In that vein, we'll continue to try to present a varied range of stories that, we hope, inform and help our readers.

After reading your article on health reform adding jobs, I had to ask myself whether or not your publication is a parody. If you desire credibility, please be more careful of your sources. The CEO of the Center for American Progress, John Podesta is a radical leftist who sees big government centralized planning as the solution to most problems. Look how well that kind of system worked for the former Soviet Union. Government run programs are alway more costly than politicians project and also less efficient than those in the private sector.

From Wikipedia,

The Center for American Progress is a liberal[1][2][3][4] (in the American sense) public policy research and advocacy organization. Its website describes it as "... a nonpartisan research and educational institute dedicated to promoting a strong, just and free America that ensures opportunity for all."[5] It has its headquarters in Washington D.C.[6]

This is ridiculous. There would never be any net savings; therefore any additional job that's calculated against the savings is a phantom job. The presentation of the program is being manipulated so the "revenue neutral" basis the Obama administration has presented is based on 10 years of taxes and delivery of only 6 years of benefits. Who writes this stuff? Have you checked to see who funds the Center for American Progress? It is probably George Sorros, the billionaire socialist who plans to profit from the collapse of the American economy, and who will then fund Obama as he imposes the final phase of our 'transformation' into a socialist state.
It is refreshing to see so many American's waking up to the truth about the leftist they elected, but it is rather disturbing to see a forum that allegedly represents small businesses support an administration who seems intent on destroying them!

WO! Hold the phone!!!!!

Why are you publishing these irresponsible assumptions?

First of all, look at the source of your data, University of Southern California and the Center for American Progress. Sounds likes a liberally biased organization in favor of big government at the expense of the American people.

Second of all, NUFF SAID!

This sounds like another study from academia where political theory (correctness) is more important than reality and common sense. With the government running things only companies that are driven out of business will be paying less.

The proposed health care will cost jobs with increased taxes and mandates on employers. The proposed cuts to Medicare will mean lower fees paid to doctors and fewer doctor participation resulting in rationing of care.

Very interesting ... so, lower health care costs "means that companies will have more cash to sink into their operations and for payroll" I doubt that health care cost savings will be achieved by any reform plan currently on the table ...but, even if such savings cuold be achieved, that amount would be offset by a reduction in cash from proposed higher levels of taxation. Using a rough comparison of total employer health care costs to estimated taxable income, a 5% tax increase would eliminate about 4 jobs for every job created by health care costs savings (if such savings are ever achieved). Using your own words, why not cut taxes and let employers "sink [the resulting tax savings] into their operations and for payroll". This wuold be real economic stimulus.
