The award you don’t want to get

Most companies and their leaders love to get an award — especially from consumers or customers. But there’s one prize you and your company can do without: “The Worst Company in America,” sponsored by Consumerist.com. And this year’s winner is … … Comcast!

This year’s “Golden Poo” trophy, as it’s called,  went to a technology company. (Hey, the list of the top five brands in the country included four tech giants, it’s only fair that the GP go to one as well, right?)

The much reviled cable Internet provider Comcast took top honors in this year’s contest at the Web site, a subsidiary of Consumers Union, which publishes Consumer Reports.

The voting’s been going on for months now and there’s been plenty of shame to spread around for the Consumerist folks.

For a time, it seemed that there would be a death match between Bank of America, Cash4Gold and Ticketmaster, but Comcast blew away the competition in the final rounds and emerged victorious.

According to the site, “the little cable company that could showed just how badly their horrendous service, exorbitant costs, throttled internet and plans to acquire NBC Universal have ticked the Consumerist readers.”

I think Charter Communications should top Comcast. I have never seen such imcompetance in my life. Lying Customer Service reps. Charges on your bill that you were told were free with the Bundle package. Rates higher than what you were signed up for. When you call to get it straightened out, they hang up on you. It goes on and on. This company has been a nightmare, but of course is the only internet company in our area. I have heard story after story from so many other people that confirm what I have been through myself. So we are stuck with them. I sure wish there was some competition here. I would drop them like a hot potato. Maybe someone should check into that company!!
