Thinking about creating a newsletter or blog to nurture leads, or foster customer loyalty but aren’t sure if you can come up with enough content to make it worthwhile? Here’s an idea that’ll help:

Ask customers what they expect from you — it works for Justin Hitt, publisher of Inside Strategic Relations.

Shortly after they sign up for his e-newsletter, he sends subscribers a personal welcome message asking three questions:

  • What do you expect from this e-newsletter?
  • What is the biggest challenge facing your company?
  • What do you want to accomplish in the next 12 months?

The answers give Hitt a nearly unlimited supply of ideas to write about in future issues.

  • Share/Bookmark

The Sales and Marketing Update delivers the latest Sales and Marketing news once a week to the inboxes of over 200,000 Sales and Marketing professionals.

  1. Justin Hitt Says:

    Christian,

Thank you, you are very astute to notice. Establishing expectations are critical for reader (and client) satisfaction and loyalty. While most subscribers don’t answer the questions I’ve found my newsletter provides a steady stream of new clients when used correctly.

Of course, these questions open a Pandora’s box because if not managed correctly could take your newsletter off topic. Remember, readers sign up for a specific reason which may change as new readers join. Anyway, I’ve made these mistakes myself and paid.

    Sincerely,

    Justin Hitt
    Strategic Relation Consultant
    Publisher, Inside Strategic Relations

Ps. The content will come to you, just focus on serving the right customer for your business. Write when you have things up and running, looking forward to your success.
